amazing laptop/ notebook, April 29, 2016
Verified Purchase(What’s this?)
Love, love, love this notebook/laptop! Arrived quickly, packaged well. Already semi charged out of the box! I started it up, was quick, the graphics are very vivid, clear and high definition. There aren’t alot of unnecessary apps to bloat it. The first thing I did was to add my paid for virus protection, advast, which I love, I added the apps I wanted and it was ready to rock. The platform where the keyboard is feels smooth to thd touch and while typing your hand seems to glide smoothly across the keys which is a plus, it feels natural and the keys respond with a slight tap. The outside of the case is similar to a brushed metal with ridges, leaving no smudges and fingerprints when closing or opening it for use. I’m a windows 7 fan and didnt think id like the 10 that came with it, I wanted a 7 but couldnt find one that I liked or had great reviews so after reading the good and the bad, I bought this one and haven’t regretted it. Its fast going from window to window, uploading and downloading. No lag in between apps, just does what you want it to without any hesitation. Feels light carrying it room to room, and the battery is good for about 6 hours before needing plugged in again. All in all this is a nice laptop for the money and mine came with the optical drive becausd no matter how much you can do on line with out having to use it like adding pictures , music, documents or any other thing you want to transfer, now you have cloud, dropbox, and one drive to do that, I still find I want to use the optical drive to watch movies when there’s no internet available, like when you camp remotely! My reason for the optical drive. I can’t think of anything else to add to my review, my experience with electronics is minamal, so writing this review in my own words trying to get my points across, may be a little windy or long in explanation, but I hope if your looking for a good, easy to use, nice looking, quick laptop, this is the one and well worth the money spent. On another note, before I bought this one, I did buy another HP with windows 7 on it here on Amazon, but when I received it, it wouldnt connect with my HP wireless all in one printer, I had to upgrade the drivers first in the laptop, which was a pain, it seemed everything I needed to add to it had to have drivers installed first, and than there was an issue with staying connected to the internet, I started to think it was my internet, but no, it was the laptop! Heres what im getting at, I went back to my account on Amazon, and looked at their return policy on laptops, I had this one for 26 days, and was afraid they wouldn’t take it back, but I proceeded to follow their instructions for a return, repackaged the laptop in the box it came in, (I did use a cleaner and did a factory restore first) and they sent me a return label which I attached to the box, the very next day ups picked it up from my house, and it couldnt havd been more than 3-4 days I had a full refund in my account! So bottom line if you order a laptop, get it, and don’t like it, returning it is hassel free, and refunds are quick! thanks for reading and good luck with whatever you decide on!

Awesome computer! Before buying this laptop, May 5, 2016

This review is from: HP 15-ay013nr 15.6″ Full-HD Laptop (6th Generation Core i5, 8GB RAM, 128GB SSD) with Windows 10 (Personal Computers)
Awesome computer!
Before buying this laptop, I did a lot of research to get a worthy computer, so I almost got the HP Envy 15 on their website for less than 5 hundred but after seeing so many reviews there, I decided to give it a try and get this one.

If you are a regular user and want it to send emails, surf the web, use Photoshop and things like that, you should consider getting this computer, now, if you are and advanced user expecting to play heavy games, I don’t believe its the best for you.
With I5 processor, you can do a lot of things, multitask and you will see no lag on it, considering I bought the 128 Gb SSD, so about graphics, nothing to complain about.

The weight? I saw some people saying that its a little heavy, and before buying this laptop, I really believed it, even because seeing the pictures, you think it really is, but after having it in hands, man, its nothing heavy, very light, and the design is much nicer than in the pictures, IN MY OPINION!!

So, very good display, beautiful design (*Looks much better than in the picture, believe me), nice keyboard with no cons, great webcam when you are in a light place, 3.5 stars touchpad, nice sound with DTS software so you can edit the sound quality and don’t forget that the sound comes by the left and right sides of the laptop, not from the bottom!

Now, the only CONS until now: The Touchpad! Really, I just think they should make a better responsive one because sometimes you need to press two times so that it can work and its not as sensitive as I expected it to be, that’s why I’m already considering in buying a mice soon.

Final Consideration: Despite this Touchpad, it is worthy every penny spent and if you are looking for a good computer for a good price and great performance for daily tasks, Photoshop, play some games and multitask, Get It… Have a good day!!

Performance laptop with a stiff touchpad, May 12, 2016
Verified Purchase(What’s this?)
Well, i am new to reviewing stuff on Amazon but i guess i can help potential buyers get some info on this laptop. Before i start, i just want to mention that this is just my opinion and not necessarily reflects all batches of this laptop. This might be too wordy but i just want people to read this review and get a detailed review, since i didn’t find a lot of those when i read the reviews for this laptop.

Pros
Processor allows one to multitask like open multiple chrome tabs while watching HD videos on YouTube. Although i have to mention that i was monitoring CPU usage on task manager and saw that the processor is like 70 – 90 utilized depending on the load, but that is expected. This doesn’t mean that i saw a noticeable slow down, it just was using the CPU to almost its limits. Although that could be chrome’s way of utilizing resources.
RAM
This was a bit surprising because i was expecting DDR3L RAM but i got DDR4 instead. At least according to the packaging box and CPU-Z software i used to check. I don’t know a lot about RAM technology but i believe from what i read online DDR4 is faster than DDR3 so that’s a plus.
Screen
As expected the laptop has 1920 * 1080 resolution. Since this is my first time using a laptop with this kind of resolution things look detailed and tinier. Especially when i use the browser. But i noticed that some applications might not be configured to go with this resolution and might look blurred. Yet this is not the laptop’s issue but the applications which were not optimized for a wide variety of screen resolutions.
Graphics
In short this is not a gaming computer. In fact, this laptop is actually for my sister who will be joining a university next year so i believe it should be fine for her since she is not into games. But this doesn’t mean you can’t play video games, it is just that it has to be done by the on board Intel graphics chip that depends on the speed of the processor and (RAM amount and speed) to give an average performance. So you can probably open games of 2016 but they won’t have stellar frame rates. For me that is not a deal breaker because you get what you pay for. But for older games this laptop should give you an average performance. If you want to know more, there is a website called notebookcheck.net which has detailed reviews on processors and graphics chips.

Cons
The reason i didn’t give five stars for this laptop is because i noticed that the touch pad is a bit stiff. Meaning you have to exert more force than other touch pads to click on things. But that shouldn’t be a deal breaker because you can get used to it overtime and have a wireless mouse option. However, HP should improve future versions because i have read other reviews and a couple of people have also mentioned this.

Overall
Even though the packaging quality is not relevant to the product itself, i felt that it was packaged well since they have like a foam support on the sides of the laptop so that it can absorb shocks when moving. You also have a one year warranty(at least) from the seller which you can see by opening one of the on board HP apps.

Finally, there are some things i wish future versions could have like an improved touch pad and options to include both an SSD and HDD with different size options. That way one could have an SSD to store the operating system and other essential software where extensive disk usage affects system performance. A back-lit keyboard would also be appreciated, of course all these improvements will mandate a price increase but including different variants of this laptop with these options might help HP sell more of this laptop and also give the consumer more choice. This laptop doesn’t take a lot of time to restart but i am sure it will be much faster if it had an SSD. I couldn’t get one because i thought the size available wouldn’t be enough for my sister. Anyway, i hope my review helps potential buyers.
