I’m going to get this out right away: In order to download user created skateparks YOU MUST PURCHASE DLC. Some versions of this game COME WITH the DLC, this one, the Platinum version comes stripped. The description says “Upload” the skateparks that you create, but still the mentioning of PURCHASING ADDITIONAL DLC to make this game complete on this page, the description, and the game box itself is hidden or nonexistent! That being said, there are several DLC packs to download. Go on xbox live website to view them. All together your probably looking at spending another (roughly). Don’t get me started on DLC. It’s obviously not going away and you can look at it 2 ways: Complete games in today’s generation cost 0 or more. (No more games). Or you can wait 6 months to a year for the super platinum game of the year special edition to come out and get everything for or so. Ok, I’m done.
Having played Skate 1 & 2, yes this game is better than the two. They give you skateparks to customize. Picture a big empty warehouse that you can design to your hearts content with ramps, rails, boxes, really anything. Being able to download user-created skateparks sounds awesome, though I haven’t tried it since I haven’t purchased the DLC yet. This really adds longevity to the game. BTW, you need to progress in the story line to unlock boxes and ramps to use in your custom skatepark. The game does seem to get old a little too quickly for me and the flick-it controls, although refined, are still frustrating, as are the challenges. Although there are a lot of tricks to do, I seem to only pull off a hand-full of them. The world is big and finding a cool spot to session is fun, but gets old after a while. He doesn’t seem to ollie high enough. Riding halfpipes and bowls are not explained at all (or I haven’t found it yet). There is a sweet spot between getting air on a halfpipe, jumping completely out of the pipe, stopping on the rail to grind, or just getting out of the pipe the correct way. This seems to take the fun out of the pipes for me. I recommend researching forums to get a better idea on controls. You can create your team of skaters, what they look like and what they wear, create your company and even upload a custom logo to the game. I wish the replay editor was more accessible!!!!! Most of the time I am always replaying and slowing down great tricks over and over. It pretty much works like skate 2. All in all the game is fun. If you liked skate 2, you will definitely, absolutely like this. Aside from the dislikes above, they are in no way deal breakers, and for (or ish complete)you’re crazy not to. This game is more realistic than Tony Hawk’s games. Those are like something out of science fiction, stringing 600 tricks in a single ollie, plain stupid. Although no game to date really, truly, compares to my favorite skating game of all time “THRASHER SKATE AND DESTROY” on the original playstation. I still have it and still play it on my ps3 from time to time.

Even Better Than Skate 2. Fantastic Game!,

I have really been enjoying my time with Skate 3. The game improves upon everything I loved from the original Skate and Skate 2. I spent an absolute disgusting amount of hours playing Skate 2 and received all 1500 gamerscore points. To say that I am a veteran of the Skate series may be an understatement. I had a great time in San Vanelona, but amazingly I have been enjoying the new Port Carverton even more. The locales are much more skate friendly. Each of the districts (University, Downtown, and Industrial) offer unique places to skate and have a great time.
Also I love the new online options. The ability to create a team with Xbox Live friends and complete challenges works very well. For fans of freeskate it is back and it is awesome. Having troble completing a career challenge? Jump online and get help completing the challenge with members of skate’s dedicated community. Skate 3 also features an improved soundtrack, skate park editor, and all sorts of great customization to create your ultimate Skate team online or offline. As stated on the official website skate.Create and Share is back and better than ever: “skate.Create and Share – Returning favorites skate.Reel and skate.Graphics are back. The all-new Skate.Park is an open canvas for players to create their dream plaza or mega-ramp park. Once created, they can share their masterpieces with the world by uploading them directly from their console. “ If you liked the original Skate or Skate 2 you will love Skate 3. Black Box has loaded the title to the brim with amazing content. The game is now more accessible than ever with three difficulty options (Easy, Normal, and Hardcore), although the game may still be a bit difficult even on the Easy setting for newcomers. Thankfully you can practice the basics again and again with the assistance of Coach Frank. For those new to the series I would recommend that you download the demo from PSN or Xbox Live prior to purchase. You will need to get used to and practice the flick-it controls. It shouldn’t take too long before you can start busting some mad tricks. Oh and did I mention the awesomeness of the Super-Ultra Mega Park? See you on the streets of Port Carverton! |

|Positive Movement for the Franchise, Loss of Local Multi-player Disappointing,
Pros –
* They got rid of the security guards. The game setting is a city that embraces skateboarding, so it isn’t necessary.
* Improved load times on tasks where repeated reloading is required – i.e. bailing before completing the 4 required tricks only requires hitting A once to get started again in less than a second.
Cons –
* The local multi-player games have disappeared. My two young sons are finally at an age where they like playing. The local multi-player “Own the Spot” challenges on Skate 2 were our favorite as it gives a time limit to everyone’s turn… This doesn’t appear to be present now.
