Great movie, great game, June 12, 2015

Great movie, great game. The person who wrote the one star review obviously didn’t read the description, or notice the PS4 branding. Don’t let someone’s unjustified / lousy review sway you from buying this game.

Fun Addition To The LEGO Series And An Immersive Jurassic World Experience!, June 12, 2015

LEGO Jurassic World was announced in January 2015 which was only months prior to the release of the game which coincides with the new Jurassic World movie. This game adapts the plot of all four Jurassic Park films and provides a huge world to explore. Let’s take a look at LEGO Jurassic World and see if it’s worth it for fans of both LEGO and Jurassic World series.

LEGO Jurassic World follows all of the same LEGO mechanics. Similar art style, same construction, swapping characters to advance, and a few surprising action scenes. There’s plenty of puzzles and it’s an open world, but the game guides you through in a linear story. I tend to compare this game to LEGO Marvel Heroes and LEGO Batman because they were my favorite and two of the most popular games in the series. Jurassic World definitely stands out. Mixing all four Jurassic Park movies is very ambitious, but I would say that they manage to get the story and the world right.

The action is significantly different in my experience. There isn’t a ton of combat like in the LEGO Marvel games. It’s more about action and platforming segmented with action sequences. The action is reserved for certain sequences where characters must escape from dinosaurs or perform a daring rescue. And you do actually get to control some dinosaurs to overcome obstacles.

It’s a very comprehensive game and it captures the essence of all the different characters, with one exception. They use the original audio from some of the older movies which on the one hand is nostalgic and on the other hand it seems out of place. The problem comes from the fact that the audio quality is significantly dated and it seems like they are working with the mixed down version. In other words, you hear too much background noise from the original movie. It’s not a deal breaker, but it definitely took me out of the moment during some cutscenes.

The graphics are surprisingly good for a LEGO game. The character models look the same as the previous games, but the environments are much more dynamic. The way they hand, led the various swamps and jungles of the island goes beyond the last few LEGO games. The environment looks more realistic than the characters, but it’s still balanced.

The cutscenes and some of the action sequences are really cool and reminiscent of the movies. There’s the crazy chase scenes, the small groups of dinosaurs, and you really get the sense of people discovering the world of dinosaurs.

The humor is also a little more mature for a LEGO game. There’s plenty of comedy, but the game let’s the world and the characters provide the humor rather than pushing numerous puns in every single cutscene.

Of course with any LEGO game it has a few extensive features. The game is a collect-athon with a million different things to capture for replayability in free play mode. You could easily spend 40 hours chasing after every last widget if you want. And the game is very accessible. It’s on previous gen and last gen consoles, PC, and even the handhelds – the Vita and 3DS.

LEGO Jurassic World can provide some enjoyment if you don’t want such an intensive game or you really want to engross yourself in the revitalization of Jurassic World. So you may as well Try It. For the hardcore players out there, this game has been released in between Witcher 3 and Arkham Knight so you may want to reserve your cash for a bigger game. My son loves it!, June 13, 2015

My son received this as a 10th birthday gift, he just had to wait a few weeks for it to be released. He’s a huge fan of the lego games, and was excited for this game to come out even though he’s never seen any of the movies. I’m blown away by the graphics in the game, such a big difference in picture quality between PS4 games and PS3 games. One thing that shocked me, my son and I have been playing it non stop since he got it and the game has yet to freeze. With every other lego game on previous consoles, the games have frozen so bad you had to shut the system down. Both lego games we have for the PS4 (Batman 3 and this one) have yet to freeze, and we’re more than 80% done with batman 3. Maybe they’ve finally worked out the kinks, I can only hope. My only real gripe would be the characters voices, I have excellent hearing yet even I have a heck of a time understanding them when they talk without having the subtitles on! A quick tweak in the audio settings should fix this, I haven’t been able to because my son likes it just the way it is – he’s not one to listen to instructions well, lol. Overall, its a fun game, lego does it again. It’s a little expensive though but all games these days are.

FYI: This game was purchased through Amazon by my mom for my son but for some reason, I can’t mark this as a verified purchase.
