Asus ROG G20CB-WS71 is a Tiny Little BEAST and Dead SILENT!, June 18, 2016

This review is from: ASUS Oculus Certified Gaming Desktop G20CB-WS71,Core i7/GTX 980/16GB RAM/1TB w/256SSD, Windows 10 (Personal Computers)
First off I want to say I upgraded from a Liquid Cool i7 Alienware with an AMD R9 290 video card, and this ASUS ROG G20CB-WS71 is a tiny little BEAST and runs dead silent!!! My alienware is about 90lbs and huge and loud. This thing is about 25lbs and Tiny and Silent.
Setup was a breeze and it is blazing fast, and it is dead silent. I mean it, its so quiet you don’t even know its there, and its sitting right next to me on top of my desktop maybe 2 feet away from my keyboard. All my games run amazing on this thing all settings are all maxed/ultra. Arma 3, The Division, America’s Army, Path of Exile, Diablo 3, Overwatch to name just a few.
I am 100% please with my purchase and would defiantly recommend this to any of my friends which in turn would mean I would recommend it to anyone looking for a new gaming pc.

I ran into a few quirky things and have listed them in the NOTE below and how I resolved them.

**NOTE**
*I had some crazy lag issues in a few online games, even my steam connection dropped a few times and would not reconnect unless I fully closed the application then restarted it. I found it to be the Asus software Game First 3 software that is supposed to make your online games work better/faster via prioritizing games over other network activity! Once I turned this off and found that it was in fact Game First 3, I uninstalled it and it works perfect. I went to Asus site and found a newer version, Game First 4, downloaded it and installed it and its set it to auto and it is working perfect.
*To change the LED light colors on this model it is not located in the Asus Command app like many online have stated, it is in fact in the AEGIS software to do this.

I have only had it a few days so far but have put in many hours of gaming and it has not hitched. I will update if anything changes. But again this tiny little computer is a Beast.
LOVING IT!

***UPDATED 7/11/2016***
Have had this almost a month now and Everything stateda above still STANDS TRUE! This computer is AMAZING! Its worth every penny and then some. It truly is a Tiny Silent Beast. Absolutely Love this thing.

Amazing with the HTC Vive, fits well like a Console on the Entertainment Center, May 23, 2016

I bought this Computer for my HTC Vive setup & for an R&D project for Work using VR with CATIA. I have it on my Upstairs Entertainment Center because I had the Most Room there for the "Full Room" VR setup. I am outputting from the Display Port using a Display Port to HDMI cable and that works good. I bought a Wireless Mouse & Keyboard (Logitech) so I could control from the Couch. I can have the Vive plugged into the HDMI out of the GTX 980 card and Both will display at the Same time.
This is a little bigger than my PS4 but fits on the Entertainment Center nicely.
There are 2 – 3.1 USB, 2 3.0 USB & 2 – 2.0 USB in the Back. There is also 2 USB 3.0 in the Front.
Performance seems to be great with all the Games I have which are mostly VR Games as I got back into PC due to VR.

The SSD Drive is 256 Gig, make sure you select Custom Installation as much as Possible when you install stuff or that SSD which is C: will fill up fast. You can also change this using RegEdit (See instructions below) If you are not Comfortable with RegEdit than stay away as you can mess your computer up if you do it wrong.

"Open regedit (Start > Run > "regedit"). Then find "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESoftwareMicrosoftWindowsCurrentVersion". Now look in the right pane. Change "ProgramFilesDir", "ProgramFilesPath", "ProgramW6432Dir" and "ProgramFilesDir (x86)". If your secondary drive letter is D:, then change them to "D:Program Files", "D:Program Files", "D:Program Files" and "D:Program Files (x86)", in that order that I just mentionned."

The 1 TB Drive is D: and seems to work well. It’s no Solid State Drive but does the Job.
I have had VR Sessions of 2 Hours Straight & nothing seems to overheat & the included Aegis Utility reports all components in Safe Operating Ranges.

There is Wireless up to AC, but being that I am right by my router I chose to go with Wired Ethernet which is GigaBit and works fantastic.

The LED Lighting is really cool & customizable.
The System is ULTRA Quiet. Can believe it stays that cool with such Quiet Fans.

Granted I could have Built one Slightly Cheaper, but that would have NEVER fit on my Entertainment Center.

VR Specific Notes:
I personally get Motion Sickness fairly easily, but with the HTC Vive since their are many Room Scale VR games you are literally doing the Movement I have had Zero Issues with Motion Sickness. I do get it with Seated Games like Elite Dangerous & CDF Starfighter, so I cancelled my Oculus Rift Pre-Order because I really wanted that for Eve:Valkyrie which now I think I will have to pass on when it comes out on HTC Vive. If you have the Room to do Room Scale it is amazing. I have a 3.0 Meter or 10 foot Square area I was able to dedicate with just moving my Coffee Table before I game. My 2 Base Units are further than the 15 foot max Distance so I occasionally lose one for moments at a time but it has never caused a glitch in game, so if anyone else is wondering it is do-able as long as you are not too much beyond that.

Fans are very quiet and cool even when I am playing games, August 1, 2016

Postive:
1) Everything you expect from a top tier gaming PC. Extremely stylish case. Fans are very quiet and cool even when I am playing games.
-The game I play most is CS GO online on steam and I have no problem playing it at 2K resolution with every in game setting set at the highest. There is zero lag.(I don’t have a 4K monitor, so can’t comment on that. Although the PC mention it can play games with up to 5K resolution).
-I read reviews and seen videos online that this PC have no problem playing games like GTA 5 or Skyrim at 4K with 60+FPS.
2) Takes me less than 20 sec to start the PC ( My old PC takes slightly less than a min, so thats a major improvement0
3) The lights are pretty cool and lights up according to your PC sound. When you listen to music, the lights follow the beat. You can customize it.
4)Extremely compact for a gaming PC. Only slightly bigger than my current PS4.

Negative:
1) Tbh its slightly expensive for the specs you are getting. Many ppl mentioned I could have built a better gaming PC myself for money I am spending and I don’t doubt that. I don’t mind spending the extra 0-0. I am not a big gamer or PC expert nor do I have the time to built a PC right now. Building your own PC might have better specs, but I highly doubt you can built one this compact and this good looking. My computer desk is not that big and this PC fits perfect under my desk next to my PS4. I built a gaming PC before and it work fine for about 1 year until I start seeing the blue screen of death and it starts to reboot randomly. This PC comes with a 1 year warranty from Asus.

Conclusion: Buy this Pc if you want a stylish compact gaming PC and got no time to built your own computer. It might be pricy but you get what you pay for.

The monitor I am using this PC with is: HP Pavilion 32-inch QHD Wide-Viewing Angle Display.
