Fast and easy to use – a no fuss, laptop. Just what I needed!, August 23, 2016

I have been contemplating replacing a 2008 vintage dual core Celeron-based Compaq laptop for about a year. It was a great computer when new and the addition of an SSD/HDD hybrid drive and a memory upgrade meant that it has been a great workhorse for years. Sadly it has started to show its age and I decided it was time for a change. I have been looking for a cost-effective replacement with a faster processor and an SSD drive, and I believe this is it! I looked at a number of different makes and costs between about 0 to 00. I was not looking for a touchscreen model (a bit of a gimmick for a computer of this type in my opinion) – I just wanted something that would work fast and easy with no fuss. So far I believe that’s is exactly what I’ve got from HP. A 6th gen i7 dual core with an SSD for less than 0, and I had it up and running in about 10 mins straight out of the box. It is about 1/2 the weight of my old laptop, but does have a slightly flimsier feel – I’m not complaining though; it will be much easier to travel with. It only has 1 USB3 port and I’d have liked one more, but again, for this price I still think I have a bargain.

Great for installation of Ubuntu:
I installed Ubuntu 16.04 for dual boot. It works great without any of the usual problems of missing drivers etc.
Great hardware

A lot of computer for the money – cheap plastic case to keep the price down, September 16, 2016

a lot of laptop computing power for the money. It was delivered quickly, easy to set up, and it started out mostly updated and ready to get working on. We are using this for school and home. Love the i7 processor, Windows 10, and SSD. The reason the laptop is so cheap (in my opinion) is the plastic case. It is radically flimsier than any laptop I have ever seen. It is thin plastic. You could probably break it in half with your bare hands if you tried. But since we won’t be trying that – it is still a good computer. I was curious how they could make one this inexpensive with the hardware and features this thing has. Now I have a little bit of a clue. Seems like this is one that HP makes specifically for Amazon. I might be wrong, but it seems like it. Hope this helps. I would certainly buy it again and recommend it as long as you don’t plan to do anything heavy-duty with it…except heavy duty computing. The keyboard is typical, screen is acceptable, touch pad is a little on the cheap side…it is part of the molded plastic casing…but it does work. Haven’t tried all the ports and DVD player yet, but from what I can tell, that kind of hardware is all the normal issue HP quality.
