Had no choice but to buy a graphics card. I updated my windows from windows 7 to 10 and my on board graphics card was not compatible with windows 10. So I had to buy a graphics card that was compatible. It was a hard choice between this one and the gt 720 , 730 and even 610. This card the r7 240 had better benchmark scores and was a little more expensive but I’m glad I went with it.
So I install the card and plugged in my monitor via hdmi and plugged in my 2nd monitor via vga on the mother board. I booted up my PC and nothing just a black screen and I was like fudge! I thought I got a bad card or I installed it wrong or it wasn’t compatible. Well I restarted the computer and still black so I turned on and off the monitor and it said no signal so I tried turning on and of my second monitor and boom there it was. So I installed the disc and it installed the drivers and catalyst and then my main monitor started to work. I used my sony studio 13 platinum and it was so snappy and rendered avi do fast and rendered 1080p mp4 pretty fast (3 minute video took about 5 minutes) I made sure to select use openCL for rendering. With upgrading to a PNY 120GB SSD and this r7 240 and upgrading to windows 10 my AMD phenom ii 1090t BE 6 core with 8 GB of ram seems super snappy, way faster then when I first built it 4-5 years ago. I will update this once I insall lightroom and start editing some photos as this is really what I use my pc for.

its a great card for its price im running it on a intel pentium dual core e5400 @ 2.7 with 8gb ram and i can run battlefield 3 on medium-high settings battlefield 4 on medium with hardly any lag and hd videos/movies run great at full 1920×1080. If only it had crossfire support to double the performance it would be a great setup for the budget but its decent.

This is a great video card. With the large fan it moves a lot air at lower speeds so fan noise is virtually imperceptible. I’m not a big gamer so this card is more than adequate for my needs. Installation requires a PCIE 2 (or higher) X 16 slot. The card is single slot height so it doesn’t take up usable open slot space.
