“Everything is Awesome” will be stuck in your head,
This review is from: The LEGO Movie Videogame – Nintendo 3DS Standard Edition (Video Game)
Before I go into gameplay just a little bit about the story. I haven’t seen the movie yet but the game seems to follow it closely. You don’t need to have seen the movie to understand what’s going on. I haven’t completed the game yet but that lego humor that is familiar to these games is back of course.
This game is laid out similar to Lego Marvel Superheroes for the 3DS in chapter format with 3 levels per chapter and the gold brick challenges. I didn’t really care for this format much however, they’ve made a lot of improvements from Lego Marvel which in my opinion makes this a MUCH BETTER GAME. It feels more like a hybrid between Lego Marvel and older 3DS Lego games but it’s still a little less open world than older lego games. So like me, if you didn’t like Marvel, keep an open mind about this game and try to see some gameplay (hopefully a demo will be released). If you want the most full experience, of course get the console but if this is your only option for this game, I think it’s a good buy. Improvements made in this game for those that played Lego Marvel Compared to console versions, the environments are smaller, there’s less building and other gameplay that has been cut (without spoiling, there’s a lot of fun little minigames and some of the building with the lego instructions missing), some of the character commentary in the levels isn’t there and free roam around the city and other environments inbetween missions is sadly not here. My nephew is 8 and he’s a hardcore Lego gamer (he still plays Lego batman 2 even though he finished it months ago) and he loves this game as well, so it’ll be a hit for kids. Fun game, happy with purchase, By

Improvements made in this game for those that played Lego Marvel
– There’s a lot more content in these levels and it’s not just fighting off enemies.
– Lego building and puzzles makes a return!
– You can switch characters in the level to use their special abilities.
– There’s more exploration. Environments are still smaller than those in Lego Batman and LOTR, but better than Marvel.
– You CAN jump again.
