Very fun game, expired online pass, September 29, 2016

Resistance is a very fun, albeit very short FPS. My biggest complaint is the fact that after receiving my item I had to wait 3 days for Sony to issue me a new online pass as the one that came in the box was expired. There is no expiration date listed anywhere on the box or pass if just did not work.

Speaking of multiplayer, the only reason to play it is to get the one multiplayer trophy for the platinum trophy to unlock. It took me hours to get someone in a lobby to play with, but I finally got it.

TL:DR

Game = good
Multiplayer = dead
Online pass = expired.

Resistance: Burning Skies has been a victim of unjustified hatred, May 29, 2012

It’s truly a shame that Resistance: Burning Skies has been under fire in many reviews. Now, everyone’s allowed to have their opinion, even though I strongly disagree with it and find some scores to be way off. I’ll just say that I can’t find anything about this game that’d put it on par with some of the worst games out there. Granted, it’s not a perfect gaming product and has its fair share of issues, but none of these really harm the overwhelmingly great experience. This is a very good FPS for the Vita. Even if it were on console, I’d still enjoy it just as much.

Firstly, the presentation is pretty much great. There are some drawbacks such as lousy gun sounds and some weak texture detail in spots, but these two things don’t harm the game much at all. The graphics are overall very nice, with some nicely detailed gun models, solid character models for lead characters, an impressive soundtrack, etc. The story is also one of my favorites in the Resistance franchise.

Secondly, the gameplay is superb. Dual analogs make this a buttery smooth FPS on the go. I didn’t know how I’d feel about the touch controls, but I think most of them work well and make sense since you have two shoulder buttons on the Vita instead of four.

Thirdly, it’s just a fun game that has a good story and great gameplay. An odd little glitch or framerate drop is ultimately just a small drawback and not a game killer.

Resistance: Burning Skies deserves your attention if you’re a Vita owner looking for the next good game to spend your spare time on.
