Great card, low temperatures, and no coil whine!,
This review is from: Gigabyte GeForce GTX 1070 G1 Gaming Video/Graphics Cards GV-N1070G1 GAMING-8GD (Personal Computers)
I received this card and besides the cooler being made of plastic, everything else is high end. The aluminum back plate is also a nice touch. On the side of the card there is a Gigabyte logo and Fan Stop indicator that are RGB meaning you can customize the color to match your build or favorite color. Keep in mind in order to do this you must install the Xtreme Gaming Engine Utility from Gigabyte. At first I thought maybe my card was defective but it was just user error.
I’m seen some posts online complaining about coil whine. After becoming familiar with coil whine with the GTX 970 and AMD R9 Nano (worst I have ever heard), I am happy to report that my GTX 1070 G1 Gaming Edition has zero coil whine. I have tried various games with an unlocked frame rate and still no audible coil while. If I end up hearing some coil whine I will update this review. The cooling on this card is terrific. At load I am only hitting 75c. On my old GTX 980 Ti, this number was in the high 80s and low 90s. I would no-doubt recommend this product if you are looking for an GPU upgrade. If you already have a Titan X or GTX 980 Ti, it is more of a lateral move. I made a YouTube video with unboxing and firestrike scores which can be found in a YouTube search.

Good:
Running this on a 1080p 144Hz monitor, it destroys every game thrown at it. Complete overkill even with the high refresh rate (time for a monitor upgrade?). On top of that, it’s one of the most reasonably priced non-reference GTX1070 at time of writing: 0 while almost all others are 0 or higher. Temperature wise, they’re LOW and the card is very quiet, even under load in 80 degree F ambient temperature. As for the LEDs – I didn’t think I’d like RGB LEDs but I think it actually looks quite nice. Only the logo and "FAN STOP" icon light up, so it’s not too distracting. It also came in the prettiest graphics card box I’ve ever seen. Bad: Also, even though it’s one of the best-priced GTX1070s, it is still more than the 9 base MSRP. Even with the premium for an aftermarket cooler, I expected above MSRP like the GTX970, not nearly double that. However, even with the relatively high price point, it still offers a fantastic price-to-performance ratio.

Best GTX 1070 in my opinion, By

I just received my card a few days ago and I have to say I am completely floored by the performance of this card! Here are my thoughts so far.
Build Quality – The card feels like it is build well and will last. I suppose the plastic covering the cooler is a little cheap feeling but it isn’t a big deal. Appearance – This card looks great. Though the cooler cover is plasticy it still looks nice and the RGB lighting is great! Performance – This is really where this card delivers! I currently play games at 2560×1080 (Ultrawide Rules!) but this can handle every game I throw at it on ultra settings with 80-100 FPS. Price – Compared to the GTX 970 this card may seem a little steep in price but you absolutely get what you pay for! This card makes the GTX 970 feel like an outdated PoS and I really liked that card…until I bought this. Hands down the best GPU I have ever owned. Buy it you will not be disappointed Update: A few things I should have mentioned. This card is LONG. It just fits in my NZXT H440 case. It is extremely quite and my 3DMark score jumped from a 6700 with a GTX 960 to 13850 with this card! |

|Incredible Card,

On top of that, it’s one of the most reasonably priced non-reference GTX1070 at time of writing: $430 while almost all others are $450 or higher. Temperature wise, they’re LOW and the card is very quiet, even under load in 80 degree F ambient temperature. Bad:
To change the RGB LED’s color, you need the Xtreme Gaming Engine utility from Gigabyte. Unfortunately, the program itself is nowhere near as polished as MSI Afterburner. Also, the software caused my card’s LED color to get stuck on red until it was uninstalled. Feels quite buggy as of writing this review. I will not be using it, but it also means I can’t control the lighting color.
Also, even though it’s one of the best-priced GTX1070s, it is still $50 more than the $379 base MSRP. Even with the premium for an aftermarket cooler, I expected $30 above MSRP like the GTX970, not nearly double that. However, even with the relatively high price point, it still offers a fantastic price-to-performance ratio.
