Great Vita Game! Stop comparing to PS3 version., May 13, 2014
This review is from: Borderlands 2 (Video Game)
If you read a lot of reviews online, they focus on the negatives of this game, for which there are a few. But those negatives come as a direct comparison with Xbox 360 and PS3 versions of this game-both considerably more powerful hardware than the PS Vita. Not making a comparison, then, this version is a great game and a must-have for any Vita owner. The DLC it comes with, the high replay ability, the online multiplayer; all are superb and make Borderlands 2 one of the most robust titles on Sony’s Handheld.

Now to the issues. There are some framerate issues. They’re not game breaking, but do become noticeable when the action heats up. If you’re familiar with the console version of the game, the resolution is lower, as are the texture qualities. Oh-and the multiplayer is only for 2 instead of 4 like on the PS3/Xbox/PC version. If you have never played the console version, you would not notice these things but I’ve got a lot of time in the console version. That said, the draw distance is still quite good, models still look great-this is a good-looking Vita game in it’s own right.

And don’t forget the BIGGEST plus: it’s PORTABLE. I have quite the commute every day and end up with a lot of down time away from home, so the fact that the game is portable is a HUGE bonus that outweighs any comparative defects in the transition from console to handheld.

Bottom Line: If you want your Borderlands fix on the go, then this game is totally worth the purchase. It’s a faithful port of the game with a few minor compromises that don’t hold it back. If you’re just going to sit on the couch and play it anyway, then you’re better off with the PS3 version, because you’re getting better performance there.

The game arrived in great condition, though I was concerned since it was a padded envelope and not a small box. It installed and worked just fine in my Vita, and despite the DLC codes that come with it having an expiration some time in 2014 or so, they still worked in the Playstation Store so I was able to have the "complete physical package" according to what it says on the box. Overall pleased with my order and would order from this seller again.

Borderlands 2 itself, however, is a masterpiece. I’m not one for modern FPSes, but the presentation, writing, and solid gameplay mechanics enticed me to play. Four hundred hours into the PC version and I’ve still barely explored all of TVHM and UVHM (the secondary difficulty levels). Borderlands 2 is an unforgettable game for me and I decided "I must have it on the go." Getting BL2 onto the Vita was no small task. The game won’t reach 60fps often, if ever, and there are fewer enemies, lowered texture quality, etc, but given the constraints they had it still feels like Borderlands 2. Important functions are mapped to the rear touchpad, however, and I’m not sure if there’s a way to co-opt the touchpad entirely since it’s somewhat unreliable, but that’s no fault of BL2 itself. Overall I feel it’s a decent port. Not outstanding, not terrible.

Many explain Borderlands as "Diablo with guns". That’s pretty much true. You kill enemies, gather loot, take in the world, and if you’re committed you’ll find yourself farming a bit. It’s similarly addictive and it gains another dimension entirely when played with friends.

This game changed my mind about (some) modern FPSes.

Borderlands 2, Handsome Jack is at his usual egotistical, cruel, and quirky antics again!!, July 25, 2016

Borderlands 2 for the PS Vita is so so much fun. If you like borderlands or genres like RPGs, shooters, looters, or all of the above in one package, I recommend this game. I have had my Vita since Christmas and have been pretty disappointed with the game selection for the system, so when I found "Borderlands 2" on the Vita I was kind of skeptical, but I decided to spend the money and take a chance. I am glad I decided to get it because I have not been able to put it down. You cant even tell its a ported game unless you play for extended hours at a time, then it will freeze the system and restart it. Other than that, for a Vita game, the graphics are good, gameplay is fantastic, the story is great, and being able to kill or explode enemies rather, then take their loot, or find chests, boxes, lock boxes, gun cases, and safes and be able to loot those too makes for endless fun, borderlands style
