Somehow, I managed to get Zoctac GeForce GTX 1060 AMP Edition on launch day via Amazon LLC prime at 0.00 (7/19/16). Currently the GTX 1060 is out of stock everywhere. I was building a PC and I planned on building it this May with a GTX 970. I decided to delay as AMD was coming out with the RX 480 8GB. I liked the RX 480 on its launch day (6/29/16) and tried to purchase one, but they were all out of stock too quickly. Then I learned of the reference 480’s PCI-e power overdraw issue, and how hot the card runs, so then I decided to wait for the AMD custom aftermarket cards, but they STILL haven’t arrived one month later (AMD kinda dropped the ball there). So I then had no choice but to wait for the release of the GTX 1060. Once the GTX 1060 was released, it was made evident that the GTX 1060 is better than the reference RX 480 in just about every way. The RX 480 only does significantly better than the GTX 1060 in Doom with Vulkan. And also the RX 480 supports crossfire, while the GTX 1060 doesn’t support SLI. So even though I originally wanted a RX 480 8GB, and leaned towards buying AMD, I couldn’t deny that the GTX 1060 is a better card through the numerous tech reviewers and stats.

Personally, I have had Zotac cards before , and have only good things to say. So I knew that I would have a great card from Zotac. And it does deliver. Haven’t played many games with it yet as I just got it yesterday, but I have played OverWatch on EPIC max quality 1080p and I get around average 115 frames per second (fps) while never dipping below 85 fps. Looks amazing. To further test the Zotac 1060 AMP, I ran the Unigine Heaven Benchmark with the ULTRA highest quality at 1080p with 8x anti aliasing. I did this as I wanted to see some of the card’s potential in my PC. Using the well regarded GPU-Z to see the cards stats, I am happy with the results of both my gaming performance and the performance during the Heaven Benchmark. Zotac advertises the card as having a boost clock of 1771 MHz to ensure that mark is met. But for the most part, the card will actually boost to 1936MHz and SUSTAIN that boost clock for your gaming session. So understand that the advertised boost clock is lower than what you will actually enjoy which means you are getting roughly 165 higher clock rate than listed. The card will get up to 75 degrees during an intense load such as a benchmark, but for gaming it will be around 65 degrees. The fans are very quiet, I only really hear them if I put my ear next to my case. Under the Heaven Benchmark the fans only got to 45%. So you could definitely increase the speed to lower the temps, but I didn’t really feel the need to as the card has already exceeded my expectations.

I attached the GPU-Z stats in the two images. The 1911MHz clock sheet was during the Heaven Benchmark. The 1936MHz clock sheet was during gaming. The 1936MHz sheet stats are more likely something you will see during typical gaming at max quality.

So in general I feel that this is a great card for 0.00 and under. Currently the card is listed at 0.00 because the stock is low and 3rd party sellers are selling the cards at stupidly high prices to gouge this. What makes this card great is that it deliver so much performance at 0.00 and under. If it is priced anything above that then it is not worth it. DO NOT BUY THIS CARD IF IT IS ABOVE 0.00.

TL;DR – Buy this card (AMP Edition) at 0.00 or under. It is better than the reference RX 480 in just about every way except Vulkan Doom. Zotac is a great brand and I have never had an issues with them. Gaming and Benchmark stats images attached.

Guys this is the CARD to get. I upgraded from a i3 2100/7950, to a i5 6400 w/ a GTX 1060. Right off I was getting 95-115fps in BF4 w/ULTRA settings, and 75-83 FPS on Ultra in BF Hardline (1080p). The best part is its super cool, I’m running the card from a 430w PSU I picked up for and there is no noticeable heat coming off my machine. Bottom line, this card is amazing on every level (Price, Performance, and Power efficiency).

Its been up to 5 years since I did any gaming on a desktop pc. I have been gaming on my laptop using my NVidia 960M., it was a decent card which allowed you to play at medium settings.I recently decided to build a gaming pc and I bought this card after seeing its good reviews. This card is amazing and it runs absolutely everything on high frames with 60+ and everything at ultra even up to 100 frames at 1080p.I have tested batman Arkham city, bioshock infinite, far cry 3, doom3 demo, metro last light,, borderlands series, everything runs smooth. This card is a must own if you have a small case and it runs really quiet. The price has gone through the roof right now and I managed to get it for 250 bucks. I wouldn’t buy it for 300+ right now. I have to acknowledge AMD’s role with this card because Nvidia would have never made a powerful mid-range card which competes with the high end GTX 980 if AMD didn’t release the RX 480.I hope both companies continue to do well and it would appear so since both the RX 480 and GTX 1060 are sold out at the retailers.

Update :I noticed some stuttering problems in some games especially in ryse son of rome and assassin’s Creed black flag with vsync off. I noticed games ran smoother with vsync on.I initially thought it was a CPU bottleneck or maybe the drivers were bad.i am using the latest Nvidia 372 drivers.In short ,to fix this problem all you need to do is set the power mode in the control panel to maximum performance instead of optimal or adaptive. This fix totally solved the problem and all the stuttering went away and I am gaming smoothly with vsync off. Great card
