I have seen some very mixed reviews in regards to the Wii U version of Madden so I thought I would add my two cents. I owned the version for the Xbox 360 so I think I have a good basis for comparison.
Here are the pros IMHO: +++The Wii U allows you to use the controller to play the game. I was shocked when I was prompted to hold the – button for three seconds and it turned the controller into a handheld Madden 13. I actually played my game on a seperate floor. I thought this was pretty cool considering I sold my PS Vita and Madden 13 game because it had awful framerate and was a Madden 12 clone with updated rosters. +It does not have the new infinity engine which to me is a plus because, yes it added a neat element to the game but way more than not, on the 360 I would trip on my linemen’s feet or fall over after running into them. I would get tackled in awkwards positions that surely would have broken bones, or my player would begin to "jitter" or convulse after being tackled. The Wii U seems to have the similar if not the same engine as its Madden 12 predecessor. To me that is a plus because the Infinity engine is so querky. +++The Wii U does not require a subscription to update rosters or play online. I found this especially good because I was tired of not being able to utilize simple online features without paying for Xbox Live. I was getting quite tired of the corporate greed. ++The graphics are very close to the 360 and PS3 counterparts. They are crisp and very colorful. I have seen feedback based on framerate problems but I have experienced ZERO issues. Either Nintendo patched them or they were never there, mine runs just as smooth as its 360 counterpart. Now the cons: This has more to do with Madden itself and not the port to the Wii U –There is very little creation aspect left to the game. On older versions you move teams, design new uniforms and stadiums, etc. The designs were very limited but I thought this was a feature they could have added onto but instead they stripped it completely. –Certain player aspects are "locked". You cannot modify certain player aspects like height and weight, and school, in other words you cannot take a rookie with no face and change them into a different player. Also once you are in Franchise mode, you cannot modify players at all, even rookies that you draft. I know that a certain element to this is that people would just update their rosters to match current players thus, not eliminating the need to buy a new Madden. Also there is no option to delete players so Ray Lewis, Steve Hutchison and the like get put on Free Agency and other teams sign them after they have retired. I am a little OCD about this. Overall I like the Madden Wii U version. The controls translate pretty well unless you are using the nunchuck which I hate. The graphics are a huge upgrade, the portable usage is pretty sweet and the lack of online fees put this model above its other console counterparts. My grandson has mastered and learned EVERY play and combination …,
